This is the rope from The Doodlebops clubhouse set, the one that Moe couldn’t stop pulling. It’s about 12 feet long, wrapped in red velour and has an extra large tassel at the end. There’s nothing more emblematic about the show than this. It was featured in every episode and every live concert. There is a generation of kids who grew up yelling at their tv, "Don't pull the rope!"

Here’s a little tidbit about the rope that you may not know. We couldn't afford to shoot Moe getting splashed every episode. The water takes a long time to clean up and there was some concern the splash would ruin Moe’s vest. My solution was to shoot the sequence the same way in each episode, but actually only drop the bucket of water on him on the last day of production. We shot the splash from several angles and used the same footage in every episode.

Full disclosure, we only really did that in the second and third seasons. In season one, some of the storylines required Moe to wear costume modifications or hold certain props while pulling the rope, and reusing the water splash shot would cause a continuity problem. You’ll see in the later episodes if Moe is holding something before going to pull the rope, he will hand it to Deedee or Rooney beforehand. But I didn’t figure that out until later, and in season one we had to dunk Moe about fifteen different ways. Poor Jon Wexler was shivering by the end of that day.

I'd like to see this rope hanging at a Hard Rock Cafe but you can hang it wherever you like. Just don't pull it.
